Woman Punches Police Officer in the Face During Arrest

A disturbance inside a San Antonio restaurant brought police officers into a situation that was already out of control. Several people were involved in a physical fight, and officers had to quickly separate those involved before the confrontation could spread further.

What happened next turned the situation into a police arrest. As officers attempted to regain control and take one woman into custody, the encounter became physical and an officer was struck in the face.

 

 

POLICE ARRIVE TO BREAK UP THE FIGHT

According to San Antonio police, the incident happened shortly before 3:30 a.m. at an IHOP on the city's West Side, near the Southwest Loop 410 and State Highway 151 interchange.

When an officer arrived, three women were reportedly fighting on the floor inside the restaurant. The officer immediately attempted to separate the individuals and bring the situation under control.

With multiple people involved, the officer had to react quickly while determining who was involved and how to safely end the confrontation.

THE SITUATION BECOMES PHYSICAL

As the officer attempted to separate the women, one 27-year-old woman allegedly turned her attention toward him.

Instead of the confrontation ending, the officer was reportedly struck MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE FACE WITH A CLOSED FIST.

The incident demonstrates how quickly an officer responding to a fight can become directly involved in the physical confrontation. What began as an attempt to separate people had now become an encounter between an officer and one of the individuals at the scene.

 

 

 

OFFICERS MOVE IN TO TAKE CONTROL

After the officer was allegedly punched, he struggled with the woman as additional officers arrived at the restaurant.

The arriving officers helped end the fight and assisted in taking the woman into custody. The presence of additional officers allowed them to separate the people involved and bring the chaotic scene under control.

At this point, the focus shifted away from the original fight and toward the alleged assault on a police officer.

THE ARREST FINALLY ENDS THE CONFRONTATION

The 27-year-old woman was taken to the Bexar County Adult Detention Center and booked on an allegation of assaulting a police officer, according to the San Antonio Police Department's preliminary report.

Police said the officer and the women involved did not suffer any major injuries. The woman's identity was not released in the initial report.

The case illustrates how an officer responding to one disturbance can suddenly become the target of an alleged physical assault.
