Woman Attempts to Stab Deputy During Arrest
A routine call along a Florida roadway quickly develops into a much more serious confrontation. Deputies are sent to investigate reports involving a woman riding a bicycle in an unsafe manner, but additional calls soon give officers more reasons to locate her.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, dispatchers received reports that the woman was riding against traffic on East State Road 100 and had nearly caused several collisions. Deputies were also told that vehicles had allegedly been damaged as she rode past them.
DEPUTY LOCATES THE BICYCLIST
Deputy Punsky located the woman near the intersection of East State Road 100 and Aviation Drive and attempted to stop her.
Instead of remaining at the scene, the woman fled into a grassy area near Aviation Drive. The deputy eventually managed to stop her and began attempting to take her into custody.
But THE ARREST DID NOT GO AS PLANNED.
According to the sheriff's office, the woman actively resisted the deputy's attempts to restrain her. The struggle continued as additional deputies became involved.
The department's Real Time Crime Center was also able to livestream the confrontation and provide information to responding backup units.
THE SITUATION BECOMES PHYSICAL
As deputies attempted to gain control, the woman continued resisting.
What had started as a traffic-related investigation involving a bicycle was now becoming a dangerous physical confrontation. Officers had to focus on controlling the woman while also protecting themselves during the struggle.
THEN THE ENCOUNTER ESCALATED EVEN FURTHER.
According to authorities, the woman had a sharp FIX-A-FLAT TOOL and allegedly attempted multiple times to use it as a weapon against Deputy Punsky.
The sheriff's office said she specifically attempted to stab the deputy in the leg.
A DANGEROUS MOMENT DURING THE ARREST
The alleged stabbing attempts dramatically changed the nature of the arrest.
Deputies were no longer dealing only with resistance. A SHARP OBJECT WAS NOW INVOLVED, creating an immediate safety concern for the officers trying to secure the suspect.
According to the official release, the woman repeatedly attempted to use the tool against the deputy while continuing to resist arrest.
Despite the confrontation, the sheriff's office reported that none of the deputies were injured.
DEPUTIES USE A TASER
With the struggle continuing, deputies ultimately deployed a Taser in an effort to gain compliance.
The tactic worked. The woman was eventually brought under control and placed under arrest.
The incident shows how quickly an arrest can become unpredictable. A deputy initially responding to reports involving a bicyclist suddenly had to deal with ACTIVE RESISTANCE AND AN ALLEGED ATTEMPT TO USE A SHARP TOOL AS A WEAPON.
THE WOMAN IS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
Authorities identified the woman as Bree Ann Gadoury. According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, she was arrested on allegations including fleeing with intent to elude law enforcement, resisting an officer with violence, aggravated battery on a law-enforcement officer, and two counts of criminal mischief. These were charges reported by authorities, not a finding of guilt.
Local 10 also reported that body-camera footage from the sheriff's Real Time Crime Center showed the confrontation and the eventual use of a Taser.
FROM A ROADWAY CALL TO A DANGEROUS ARREST
The incident demonstrates how quickly a seemingly straightforward police response can change.
Deputies initially had to locate a woman allegedly creating a dangerous situation on the roadway. After she fled, the encounter became an arrest. Then, according to authorities, the struggle escalated when she allegedly attempted to stab a deputy with the sharp tire-repair tool.
THE MOST CRITICAL MOMENT CAME WHEN THE OBJECT WAS TURNED TOWARD THE DEPUTY.
The officers ultimately gained control without any deputy suffering an injury.
CONCLUSION
What began with reports of dangerous bicycle riding and alleged vehicle damage ended with a tense physical confrontation between a suspect and law enforcement.
According to the official sheriff's office account, the woman resisted arrest and repeatedly attempted to stab a deputy with a sharp Fix-a-Flat tool before deputies used a Taser to stop the attack. NO DEPUTIES WERE REPORTED INJURED, and the woman was taken into custody facing multiple charges.
