Jealous Girlfriend Runs Over Boyfriend's Ex With a Truck2
JEALOUS GIRLFRIEND RUNS OVER BOYFRIEND’S EX WITH A VEHICLE
A confrontation between a woman, her former boyfriend and his current girlfriend escalated into an extraordinarily violent incident that eventually became the subject of a Florida appeals court decision.
According to court records, CATHLEEN NAMANDA HARVIS was sitting in an idling vehicle while her boyfriend became involved in a confrontation with his ex-girlfriend. What happened next turned a relationship dispute into a serious felony case.
THE CONFRONTATION ESCALATES
The victim had been visiting friends at her grandmother's home when one friend encountered the victim's ex-boyfriend nearby. After hearing a commotion, the victim went toward the alley and confronted him.
A physical struggle followed.
Nearby, Harvis, identified in court records as THE EX-BOYFRIEND'S CURRENT GIRLFRIEND, was waiting inside a vehicle.
Then the situation changed dramatically.
HARVIS ACCELERATED THE VEHICLE TOWARD THE VICTIM AND RAN OVER HER.
The Florida Second District Court of Appeal said the vehicle went over the victim's upper-right side, including the area beneath her shoulder blade and her face.
SHE WAS RUN OVER TWICE
The first impact was not the end.
According to the appellate court, Harvis then REVERSED THE VEHICLE OVER THE VICTIM, meaning she was struck by the vehicle a second time.
The injuries were substantial.
The victim suffered a BROKEN SCAPULA, SEVERE ABRASIONS AND ROAD RASH. She spent a night in the hospital and testified that she was essentially unable to do anything for approximately six weeks afterward. Jurors later saw photographs of her injuries as well as remaining scars and marks.
A PERSONAL ARGUMENT HAD BECOME A LIFE-THREATENING ATTACK.
THE CASE GOES TO COURT
Prosecutors originally charged Harvis with aggravated battery based on allegations that she intentionally ran over the victim and caused great bodily harm.
Before trial, prosecutors amended the charging document, and the case proceeded on AGGRAVATED BATTERY WITH A DEADLY WEAPON. The jury ultimately found Harvis guilty.
At sentencing, the State requested a bottom-of-the-guidelines sentence of 43.65 MONTHS IN PRISON, with the sentencing calculation including points for the victim's injuries. The trial court imposed the requested sentence.
Harvis later appealed.
THE CONVICTION IS UPHELD
The appeal focused on whether the trial judge improperly added victim-injury points without having the jury specifically determine the severity of those injuries.
In September 2025, Florida's Second District Court of Appeal concluded that although there was an error in how that issue was handled, it was HARMLESS BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT because the evidence of significant injury was overwhelming. The court therefore affirmed the judgment and sentence.
The ruling emphasized the extent of the victim's injuries and the fact that she had been driven over twice.
WHEN RELATIONSHIP DRAMA BECOMES A FELONY
This case demonstrates how quickly an emotional confrontation can become something far more serious.
It began with an unexpected encounter involving an ex-boyfriend.
A confrontation followed.
His current girlfriend was waiting nearby.
Then a vehicle became part of the conflict.
WITHIN MOMENTS, A RELATIONSHIP DISPUTE HAD TURNED INTO AN AGGRAVATED-BATTERY CASE.
The victim survived, but her injuries required hospitalization and weeks of recovery. The criminal case continued long after the confrontation itself was over.
WHAT MAY HAVE STARTED WITH JEALOUSY AND ANGER ENDED WITH A WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED AND ANOTHER WOMAN CONVICTED OF AGGRAVATED BATTERY WITH A DEADLY WEAPON.
What began as a confrontation between an ex and a current girlfriend escalated in seconds. Keep watching to see how the encounter unfolded and why the case eventually ended up before a Florida appeals court.
