Girlfriend Notices Something Strange After Her Boyfriend “Cleans” the House House

Christopher Soto case footage

1. SHE CAME HOME TO A HOUSE THAT DIDN’T LOOK RIGHT

At first, the cleaning might have seemed strange—but not necessarily criminal.

The floor was unusually wet. There was a powerful smell of bleach throughout the home. And according to investigators, the man who lived there was not normally someone who spent his time cleaning with bleach.

That detail would soon become one of the most important clues in a murder investigation.

The case involved Christopher Soto, a Coral Springs man whose girlfriend later helped investigators piece together what had happened. (WPTV News Channel 5 West Palm)

2. THE BLEACH WAS ONLY THE BEGINNING

According to the arrest records described by local reports, Soto's girlfriend noticed something else when she returned home.

A large garbage bag had been left near the vehicle, and she reported noticing a foul odor coming from it. Inside the home, she noticed the strong smell of bleach and a floor that was extremely wet. (WPTV News Channel 5 West Palm)

For someone who supposedly didn't normally clean that way, the sudden transformation was difficult to ignore.

WHY WAS HE SO DETERMINED TO CLEAN EVERYTHING?

3. THEN SHE FOUND SOMETHING IN THE BATHROOM

The discovery became even more disturbing when the girlfriend reportedly found a shirt on the bathroom shower floor with what appeared to be blood on it.

Soto allegedly told her the shirt belonged to a stranded motorist he had helped.

But investigators would later examine physical evidence that told a very different story. (Yahoo)

4. A WOMAN HAD DISAPPEARED

While all of this was happening, a woman had gone missing.

On June 25, 2023, deputies responded to a report of a body found partially submerged in a canal near West Atlantic Avenue, west of Delray Beach. The victim had been wrapped in a black floral-patterned covering. (https://www.wflx.com)

The discovery immediately changed the investigation.

Police were no longer looking at a missing-person mystery.

They were investigating a homicide.

5. THE CANAL CONNECTED BACK TO THE HOUSE

Investigators began following the evidence back toward the Kings Point residence where Soto and his girlfriend had been staying.

The victim had reportedly spent time there before her death.

Then investigators learned about the suspicious cleaning, the missing belongings and the strange explanations surrounding her disappearance. (Boca Post)

6. THEN CAME THE MISSING BED SHEET

One of the most important discoveries involved a bed sheet.

Soto's girlfriend reportedly noticed that one of her sheets was missing. Soto allegedly told her he would return it.

But detectives later showed her the covering recovered with the victim.

She recognized it as her missing sheet. (Boca Post)

That was no longer something that could easily be explained away as ordinary housekeeping.

7. THE CAR PROVIDED ANOTHER PIECE OF THE PUZZLE

Investigators also searched a Ford Escape connected to the case.

According to police and court reporting, blood was found throughout portions of the vehicle, including the cargo area and rear passenger area. Forensic testing later linked the blood to the victim. (Boca Post)

The evidence was beginning to form a much larger picture.

And Soto's explanation would soon be tested against it.

8. HIS STORY DIDN'T MATCH THE EVIDENCE

Soto told investigators that he had been asleep at the residence and later claimed he had helped a stranded motorist.

He also denied cleaning the apartment with bleach.

But investigators said surveillance footage showed the vehicle entering and leaving the Kings Point community multiple times during the period Soto claimed he had been sleeping. (Boca Post)

That created a major problem.

THE TIMELINE WAS NO LONGER WORKING IN HIS FAVOR.

9. THE INVESTIGATION EVENTUALLY ENDED IN A CONVICTION

Soto was originally arrested in 2023 on first-degree murder and evidence-related charges. After a lengthy investigation and a five-day trial in 2026, a Palm Beach County jury found him guilty of second-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. (SA15)

The verdict came after prosecutors presented evidence concerning the killing and the subsequent attempts to conceal it.

The case that began with a body in a canal had finally reached its courtroom conclusion.

10. THE FINAL ANSWER CAME MORE THAN THREE YEARS LATER

On September 3, 2026, Soto was sentenced to 40 years in prison for second-degree murder. He also received a five-year sentence for tampering with physical evidence, to run concurrently, followed by five years of probation. (WPBF)

What makes this case so striking is how an apparently ordinary act—cleaning a home—became one of the clues investigators used to reconstruct a murder.

The bleach.

The wet floor.

The suspicious bag.

The missing sheet.

The blood.

And eventually, the surveillance footage.

Together, those details helped investigators build a case that ended with a murder conviction.
